What the extension does

CoViewer is a browser extension that lets you watch a live sport broadcast together with friends, in sync. It synchronizes playback by sending only play, pause and position signals, adds a chat and reactions, and lets you post a rating to BoxBoxd without leaving the page.

The extension never hosts, stores, modifies or rebroadcasts any video. The stream you watch comes from your own broadcaster, on your own subscription. We do not see or transmit the video.

Data we process

• Stored on your device only: the display name and avatar you choose, and a random identifier that represents your browser in a party. These stay in the extension local storage.
• Chat and reactions: relayed in real time to the other members of your party, then dropped. They are never written to disk or kept. When the party ends, nothing remains.
• BoxBoxd account: if you choose to post a rating, you sign in to your BoxBoxd account. This sign in goes through Firebase. The rating you publish goes to your BoxBoxd account, as if you posted it on the site.

Aggregate audience measurement

To tell a real broadcast apart from any other video, a party is linked to a normalized content identifier, with no token or personal parameter. This identifier is used to confirm the session is about a race, and to produce aggregate and anonymous statistics about sport audiences. We never expose individual figures or the activity of an identifiable person.

Service providers

• Cloudflare: hosts the real time service that relays sync, chat and reactions between party members.
• Google Firebase: handles sign in to your BoxBoxd account and the writing of your ratings.

We do not sell any data and we do not share it with anyone for advertising.

Retention

Chat and reactions are not retained. An empty party is deleted automatically from our service within minutes. Data stored on your device stays until you clear it or remove the extension.

Your rights

You can erase the display name, avatar and local identifier at any time by clearing the extension storage or uninstalling it. For ratings tied to your BoxBoxd account, you manage everything from your BoxBoxd account. For any request, write to us at the address below.

Children

The extension is not intended for children under thirteen and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. A significant change will be flagged in the extension.
